Ibon sa Kalayaan — Filipino for Bird of Freedom — is a dynamic bronze sculpture that captures the precise moment of release: the instant a soul surrenders to flight and becomes one with the sky.

A great dark bird — wings fully outstretched, body angled in powerful mid-flight — carries upon its back a slender feminine figure. Arms spread wide, head lifted, she does not grip or cling; she soars, her posture one of absolute surrender and absolute freedom. The two forms are inseparable, bound together by sinuous golden-bronze roots and branches that coil around the bird’s body and reach outward like living tendrils — part restraint, part embrace, part the very force that makes flight possible.

The sculpture is rendered in deep, near-black patinated bronze, the darkness of the bird and figure contrasting with the warm amber of the branching roots that thread between them. The whole composition rises from a simple square base, yet feels entirely weightless — caught in perpetual motion, perpetual ascent.
