Puso ng Lupa – Heart of Earth

Puso ng Lupa — Filipino for Heart of Earth — is a richly polychrome sculpture that renders the living world as a single, unified heart: tree, water, woman, and sky bound together in one luminous form.

At the center, a great tree rises from churning teal waves, its roots plunging into the sea and its canopy of deep green leaves and red blossoms arching outward to form a perfect sphere — the world entire, held in the shape of a heart. The interior of the sphere is warm terracotta, hollow and womb-like, cradling the tree within as if the earth itself were breathing.

On either side, two feminine figures emerge from the curve of the sphere — graceful, earth-toned, their bodies merging seamlessly with the form. They do not merely flank the tree; they are the earth that holds it, guardians and embodiments of the living world simultaneously. Braided vines hang from the canopy like offerings, and the base of cresting waves anchors the whole in perpetual motion.

The palette is deliberate and lush: the blue-green of ocean and leaf, the warm sienna of skin and soil, the deep red of blossoms against an open terracotta heart.
